The Digital Design and Engineering Academy Mission Statement
The Digital Design and Engineering Academy strives to instill academic excellence by challenging all students creatively and intellectually. We provide an inclusive community of students, staff, and community members working together to foster student achievement, build self-worth, and to mold character so that students may fulfill their potential and meet future challenges as they pursue post-secondary education and careers.
The Digital Design and Engineering Academy Vision Statement
The Academy is driven to provide competency-based instruction, life skills, certified occupational skills, and meaningful employment by providing a hands-on real-world approach. We work in accordance with Knight High School's mission to facilitate college bound students with a rigorous learning environment. The vision of the digital Design and Engineering Academy is to provide a comprehensive educational program, which includes

        recognizing academic needs of each student and aid in achieving high academic and behavioral aspirations
        teacher collaboration with cross-curriculum based projects
        integration of technology in all curricular areas to obtain information, communicate, and solve problems
        building and supporting students’ prior knowledge and growth through extended learning and project-based curriculum
        academic interventions and support throughout and beyond the school day
        strong hands on industry level competencies
        emphasis on developing higher order thinking skills
        consistent evaluation and assessment effectiveness of Academy on student achievement
        workplace learning opportunities such as job shadowing, student internships, work experience, mentor program, classroom speakers, field trips, and exploration of postsecondary and career options
        frequent parent and community communication and collaboration

  1. Hey Sherry - I've been rather silent on the mission statement. I uploaded the text to WritePoint to see what would be returned. The document was also emailed to you.

    The Academy is driven [The passive voice is a form of "be" (is) and a participle (driven). Over-use of the passive voice can make paragraphs tedious to read and officious. Try to use the active voice most often, e.g., the student completed the paper on time. The passive voice version: The paper was completed on time by the student.   2. Very interesting however I all ready put it out to be published in the packet. I had to get going or it would not have been ready by registration time and the conferences we have coming up. I do appreciate the input however Layne. What do you think of the objective of the words? Is it what we are going for in the Academy?
