Friday Night Movie

As I've been considering things we could do to add something to the academy that would just be fun and social I considered doing a movie on the lawn. We could order a 12ft inflatable movie screen for under $200 that would be fun to put up and project a movie. Our HP grant projectors are "ours" and they couldn't really complain about us using them. I have good speakers that would work, and I bet that Fabian might have even better ones. I also have an old fashioned pop corn cart that we could make snacks. The cost would be virtually nothing other than time. I would say try it out and see if the kids like it, and then if it is successful we could even open it up to allow them to bring friends and still keep it free, but charge for snacks that we could put in the t-shirt fund. We could keep that on the down low, but I think we would be ok as long as it is after 3pm. It would have to be dark to project anyways. The only issue might be wind.

What do you all think?

  1. Would we show the movie out on the football field? If not, what large patch of grass are we thinking?
The other issue might be what movie to show. It needs to be one that the students would want to watch, but still be under the PG-13 mark, right?

  2. I have a ton of the most recent computer genarated animatin movies like Alice in Wonderland. I get them because this is what some of my students will be doing for a job.
